“The college aims to instil a love of learning in students of all ages and to help them achieve entry into outstanding higher educational establishments. Pupils’ achievement over time is good, fulfilling the college’s aims. [Their] performance is strong in the arts … [and] the vast majority of pupils successfully gain places at the universities or colleges of their choice. Pupils are highly independent learners in a range of subject areas. Pupils are acutely self-aware, because the college’s approach is focused on developing self-empowerment, resilience, and self-motivation. [They] have a profound understanding of the value of the decisions they make for their future and show excellent decision-making skills.” There was a routine inspection in 2024.

About the school

  • Founded in 1978, it was the only independent college in London to offer a speciality in the arts and humanities to sixth-form students. Today, it is open to pupils between the ages of 13 and 19.
  • The college’s post-A-level Portfolio course enables students to structure a personalised syllabus, reflecting a less rigid approach to studies.
  • The school’s partnership with Dukes Education gives pupils access to a team of Oxbridge and US admissions specialists.
  • Academic course students are commonly accepted by the Courtauld Institute, LSE, Cambridge and Oxford among other top educational institutions. Many art students go on to Central Saint Martins and London College of Fashion.
  • Former students include the actress Helena Bonham Carter and the singer Eliza Doolittle.
