- Participation is valued as much as excellence in the school’s enrichment programme. Sports offered include boys’ and girls’ rugby, hockey and cricket — plus netball, badminton, swimming, athletics, tennis, table tennis and eventing. A vibrant programme of Saturday games brings pupils, staff and parents together. The music department regularly stages concerts in venues such as the Ulster Hall. Other clubs and societies range from scripture union to robotics, languages and cross-stitch.
- The new 1500m Legacy Trail around the 20-acre site offers quiet spots for a moment of reflection and there is a new open-air performance pavilion. In memory of the author Sam McBratney, a former pupil, younger pupils can read outdoors in the magical Guess How Much I Love You garden inspired by his books.
- The Friends’ programme is based on the school’s Aspire values — adventure, sustainability, peace, integrity, respect and equality. Each pupil belongs to a tutor group, through which they follow a programme covering topics such as wellbeing, study skills, charity engagement and service. All students are supported by a teacher, head of year, head of key stage, two fully qualified counsellors and a school nurse.
- Financial assistance is available for pupils who need help to make the most of trips and additional learning opportunities.
- Friends’ School Lisburn was awarded State Secondary School of the Year in Northern Ireland for Academic Excellence 2025
