“Forest School seeks to provide an outstanding, distinct all-round education and excellent academic teaching and pastoral care ... Pupils achieve academically at a high level … Pupils demonstrate very strong and secure knowledge and understanding ... [Their] excellent achievements in a wide range of activities outside the classroom are supported by the outstanding range of opportunities provided by leadership … and the generosity of time that both staff and pupils give to support them ... Pupils are confident, articulate and resilient ... [They] develop an excellent sense of right and wrong, reinforced by a strong pastoral system where they are given opportunities to gather pride in a sense of house identity ... Pupils are extremely friendly and welcoming … [and] aware of their responsibility to play a positive role in the school and wider community.” There was a regulatory compliance visit in 2021 and a short visit in 2023.

About the school

  • Forest School, a day school in Walthamstow, northeast London, includes among its core values growth, responsibility, hard work and diversity. Alumni include the actress Nicola Walker.
  • Extracurricular groups range from air cadets to cheerleading, LGBTQ+ literature to chess, and activities are part of the timetable. The school encourages a high level of participation and achievement in sport, and its facilities have been used by Team GB. Pupils make a contribution to the community through volunteering initiatives and working with local food banks.
  • IGCSEs are offered in select subjects as well as HSK Mandarin and Lamda qualifications.
  • Scholarships are available for sport, music, art, drama, and academia; means-tested bursaries are offered to pupils who perform highly in entrance assessments.
