- Exeter School can trace its origins back to 1633 when the Exeter Free Grammar School opened, mainly attended by sons of City freemen. Today, Exeter describes itself as a “school of great character”.
- Trips and sport are embedded into the curriculum and a commitment to learning outside the classroom helps pupils to develop independence, resilience and curiosity. Clubs for Airfix, coding, Warhammer and electronics are among the more than 100 activities on offer. Older pupils can join the cadets and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.
- The Extended Project Qualification, a lifeguard qualification and BTec Sport are all offered alongside A levels.
- Scholarships are available at 11-plus, 13-plus and 16-plus entries and can be supported by a bursary of up to 100 per cent of fees.
- Former pupils include the young adult fiction writer Kevin Brooks and the actor Matthew Goode.
