About the school

  • Epsom is one of only four UK boarding schools awarded gold status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools. Staff are trained in first aid and mental health first aid, and each child is part of a house in a system that is the pastoral heartbeat of the college.
  • Much of the charity work is led by pupils. They chair the committees, set the agendas and choose the charities to support. Initiatives to provide toys and gifts to disadvantaged young people at Christmas have put presents under the trees of more than 8,000 families to date.
  • Clubs range from gardening and pottery to dance and debating, and many offer opportunities to take part in national competitions, such as the UK Rocketry Competition and racing electric cars against schools, universities and youth groups at Goodwood.
  • Scholarships are offered in sport, music and drama and for all-round academic excellence. Means-tested bursaries are also provided. The school offers about £2 million of financial assistance to an average of 76 pupils each year.
