- Formed from the merger of two schools in 2016, this coeducational, non-denominational voluntary grammar has 900 pupils. It combined the Enniskillen Collegiate Grammar School and Portora Royal School, which had been one of Ireland’s oldest schools, founded by Royal charter in 1608 by James I.
- This is farming country: in 2024, a team of three year 11 boys won four Aberdeen Angus calves to rear sustainably and sell in the semi-final of the Angus Youth Challenge, a competition run by the agrifood group ABP, in association with the Certified Irish Angus Producer Group.
- The school has a Christian ethos and aims to encourage each pupil to develop a sense of social responsibility.
- Games and an enrichment programme are timetabled on Wednesday afternoon. Sixth-formers help to teach local primary school children French, German and Spanish, and many students complete a qualification in first aid.
- The school’s table tennis team has won the Ulster championship and show jumpers, netballers, athletes and swimmers have also competed at a high level. Boys’ and girls’ crews have distinguished themselves in rowing, with specialised boat club facilities on the River Erne.
