The achievements of pupils, including boarders and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (Send) or English as aan additional language (EAL) is excellent. Pupils’ knowledge, skills and understanding across the curriculum are outstanding, strongly supported by dynamic teaching which incorporates well-structured and carefully paced lessons to foster pupils’ curiosity. Pupils demonstrate high levels of study skills … [and their] co-curricular achievements are excellent. Pupils display excellent attitudes to learning [and] are focused and quietly enthusiastic without ever losing sight of the inherent school values, centred on collaboration and compassion towards others. About the school

  • The Hampshire school is steeped in history. It was once home to Florence Nightingale’s family, and its main building features magnificent late Tudor/Elizabethan architecture. It is located on 130 acres of park and woodland fringing the New Forest.
  • The co-ed day and boarding school accepts pupils from nursery through to sixth form.
  • In 2024, 42 per cent of GCSE students achieved grades A*-A. At A-level, 49 per cent of students gained A*-B.
  • As part of its drive to ensure pupils develop the broader 21st-century skills required for future success, the school runs Embley Asset Management, through which students can trade with real money on the international markets.
  • Its sports offering is notable, including golf, mountaineering, scuba diving, archery and skiing. Embley owns a 37-foot yacht and students regularly take part in inter-school sailing championships.
