- Dulwich College, the south London public school, was founded in 1619 by the Elizabethan actor Edward Alleyn.
- Today the school educates 1,500 boys aged 7 to 18. Scholarships, ranging in value from 10 per cent to one third of school fees, are offered for outstanding achievement in music, art and sport, as are means-tested bursaries. In 2023-24, the school gave £5.4 million in support of 192 bursary awards.
- Boys have access to more than 50 interest groups, ranging from aviation to Ultimate Frisbee. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme is offered alongside scouts and cadets, while trips have included a rowing camp, language exchanges and World Challenge adventures.
- Some 200 pupils volunteer weekly as part of an independent and state school partnership programme.
- More than 100 hours of timetabled wellbeing sessions cover age-appropriate topics, while the Yelcho Room, a safe space in the medical centre, is open at break times for pupils to consult with counsellors.
- Dulwich old boys include the novelist PG Wodehouse and the Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.
