About the school

DHSG is a selective state school in Plymouth, catering for girls aged 11-18 at the higher end of the academic ability range. It acquired academy status in 2019.
Founded in 1908 as a specialist language college, the school maintains this aspect by offering classes in Mandarin, French, German and Spanish.
Examples of educational field trips for sixth-formers studying history include tours of the Houses of Parliament and a visit to Westminster Abbey to see the tombs of Tudor monarchs.
High aspirations, self-discipline, taking risks and making mistakes to develop resilience, and evolving into highly motivated global citizens are key points in the school’s mission statement.
