“The school’s aim is to provide an excellent education which enables pupils to flourish individually in an atmosphere that provides intellectual challenge and celebrates success. Pupils of all ages are conscientious and demonstrate a genuine love of learning. … Pupils’ extracurricular achievements are varied and accomplished. Their attitudes towards learning are strong, and often excellent. Pupils of all ages possess high levels of self-esteem and are happy in themselves. Pupils understand the school’s religious ethos and many older pupils have a deep appreciation of the benefits that brings. Pupils of all ages demonstrate high levels of social awareness … [and] play an active role in contributing to the wider school community.” There was a short visit in 2023.

About the school

  • Derby Grammar is a co-ed school teaching children from ages 4-18. Its ethos is summed up with three words: excellence, encouragement and enrichment.
  • About half of the A-level results in 2024 were graded A*-B, with a 95 per cent overall pass rate.
  • It has long-standing partnerships with organisations including the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (Lamda).
  • Breakfast, homework and after-school clubs are offered for primary-age pupils and are included in tuition fees.
