- For any subject there is a linked club or competition providing pupils with opportunities to explore beyond the curriculum. There are also clubs where they can find common ground in identity (African-Caribbean Society, Christian Union, LGBT history) or leisure activities (books, chess, Warhammer). Musical outlets include six orchestras, concert, soul and big bands and at least five choirs. About five hundred individual music lessons take place every week and talented pupils show off their skills during an annual arts programme that comprises 13 concerts, two school plays and a musical. A high proportion of students undertake the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.
- Most students continue their studies at Russell Group universities, with between 16 and 25 going to Oxford or Cambridge each year.
- Key staff are well trained in all aspects of wellbeing and emotional health such as mental health first aid and how to support young people affected by self-harm, anxiety and bereavement. The school is one of 15 schools in the country chosen to be part of the Anti-Bullying Alliance pilot scheme.
- The school has a number of private funds that provide financial assistance for both curricular and extracurricular activities. Help is available for students who may be financially disadvantaged, or to further develop excellence in their field to fulfil their potential.
