About the school

  • The school motto, Per salicem ad alta, translates as, “Through the willow to the heights”. It is inspired by a willow tree on the grounds and seeks to motivate students in all aspects of their education.
  • Situated on the Oxfordshire-Berkshire border, it began as a school for a single pupil, six-year-old Billy Higgs, in 1931. Today it has more than 500 students.
  • It gained a “double excellent” from the Independent Schools Inspectorate in 2023 for the quality of pupils’ personal development and the quality of their academic and other achievements.
  • Junior pupils take part in weekly forest school sessions; activities such as bug hunting and den building seek to develop problem-solving skills and self-esteem.
  • GCSE results consistently rank among those of the highest-achieving schools in the region.
