“Pupils have a thirst for learning new knowledge and ideas here, and demonstrate high levels of maturity. Staff guide pupils to be kind, honest, aim high and keep trying. All pupils meet leaders’ exceptionally high academic expectations. They strive to learn all that they should. They participate enthusiastically in class … Pupils participate fully in a varied and high-quality selection of clubs and educational visits. The school develops pupils’ specific talents and interests through activities and popular clubs including dance, football, drama, basketball and boxing club.”

*Ofsted no longer makes an overall effectiveness judgment in inspections of state-funded schools. A five-point grading scale, including a new “exceptional” grade was introduced in November 2025.

About the school

In 2024, Ofsted rated Clapton Girls’ Academy as outstanding. The school values are compassion, ambition, integrity and resilience, all of which “support our students and staff with being positive role models and prepare our students for becoming the leaders of the future”.
The school says it is proud of being a founding member of the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools. It says: “Girls can benefit tremendously from being in a school like ours that provides an education uniquely tailored to their needs and development.”
Girls have varied opportunities to take on leadership roles, from becoming prefects in year 13 to being student librarians and peer mentors.
Extracurricular clubs include Stem Club, creative writing club, basketball, dancing and guitar club.
In 2025 36 per cent of A-level grades achieved were A*-A with girls progressing to many Russell Group universities, and others achieving highly sought-after apprenticeships, including JP Morgan’s degree apprenticeship in finance.
