- This large academy in west London is a short walk from Chiswick House and the River Thames. It began life in 1916 as a girls’ grammar school; an adjacent boys’ school opened in 1926, and the two merged to become a co-ed comprehensive in 1966.
- Laura Ellener, the head teacher, joined in 2019 and has overseen a transformation in the school’s academic results and reputation for behaviour. An Ofsted inspection report in January 2025 stated: “The school has extremely high expectations for pupils’ behaviour and conduct.” Now demand is rising.
- The school has an award-winning music department. Its choirs, jazz band, steel band and orchestras perform regularly at public events. Ten year 7 spaces are reserved each year for talented young musicians who qualify for Pupil Premium funding.
- An impressive calendar of excursions includes trips to New York, Berlin and the Azores. Staff also make the most of London’s cultural life, organising regular visits to the V&A, Science Museum, markets and West End shows.
- Sports options include boxing, rowing, rugby and trampolining. There is also a retro gaming club, debating society, murder mystery club, bushcraft group and a climate action group, among many others.
