- Founded in 1947 as a technical school for boys, Chesham Grammar School is now a co-ed academy school with more than 1,300 pupils aged between 11 and 18, including more than 400 in the sixth form.
- The school’s vision is for everyone to enjoy, achieve and belong. To this end new arrivals are assigned to one of four houses — Austen, Darwin, Franklin and Shakespeare — and to a tutor group; both feature members of every year group and pupils belong to them for the duration of their time at the school.
- House competitions take place in sport, music, drama and even quizzes, while individuals can win points for their house for academic achievement and extracurricular activities.
- A busy programme of extracurricular clubs and societies, including the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, ranges from mahjong to journalism, film to technical theatre.
- In 2025 almost 60 per cent of Year 13 students achieved A*-A grades and 86 per cent scored A*-B. In 2024 the University of Birmingham was the most popular destination, with 21 leavers accepting places there, while five headed to Oxford and three to Cambridge.
