“Pupils are proud to attend this school. They learn well and have access to a wide range of opportunities to develop their skills and talents ... One parent summed up the views expressed by many: ‘Charters feels like an exciting place to study, with lots of opportunities for children regardless of academic ability. The teachers work hard to achieve high standards and pastoral support is good.’ The behaviour of most pupils is very good and reflects the school’s values of unity, respect and excellence ... Although there is some unkind behaviour and bullying, it is dealt with effectively by leaders once reported.”

*Ofsted no longer makes an overall effectiveness judgment in inspections of state-funded schools. A five-point grading scale, including a new “exceptional” grade was introduced in November 2025.

About the school

Unity, respect and excellence are the values at the core of school life at Charters.
A broad curriculum with equally broad — and seasonal — extracurricular options distinguishes the school’s character-building outlook. The aim is to help pupils develop creativity, resilience and empathy.
Charters has a house system with sporting and other competition built in, as well as fundraising targets.
The school’s Unity Fund offers financial aid for families unable to afford trips and visits, uniform or sports kit and emergency travel expenses.
Alumni of the academy in Sunningdale, Berkshire, include the Game of Thrones actress Kerry Ingram (who played Shireen Baratheon) and the Paralympian equestrian gold medallist Sophie Christiansen.
