- One of the great historic English public schools, Charterhouse was founded in 1611. The headmaster, Dr Alex Peterken, says: “Kindness sits at the heart of our culture. - The majority of pupils board but early drop-off and late pick-ups are available for day pupils.
- The school’s FutureU programme incorporates the Charterhouse Entrepreneurship Diploma, the first professional accredited qualification of its kind.
- Scholarships for entry at 13-plus and 16-plus are awarded for art and textiles, drama, dance, performing arts, design engineering, music and sport, and academic excellence and bursary awards, worth up to 100 per cent of school fees, are available. In 2024-25, £1.7 million was awarded in bursary support.
- Old Carthusians include three Victoria Cross holders, the historian Hugh Trevor-Roper and the broadcaster David Dimbleby.
