“The standards achieved by pupils at Cardiff Sixth Form College are extremely high … Throughout the college, pupils are highly motivated and have particularly positive attitudes to their learning … They approach tasks enthusiastically and maintain excellent focus … Teachers use an appropriate range of teaching methods and provide helpful resources that engage pupils and provide suitable opportunities to challenge pupils of differing abilities … The care, support and guidance provided by the school is strong. All staff know pupils very well and offer a close network of support that nurtures trusting working relationships.” There was a sixth form inspection in 2023.

About the school

The college was founded in 2004 as the Cardiff Centre of Excellence and specialises in helping Stem students to gain places at some of the world’s leading universities.
It has been the top school in the UK for A-level results for more than a decade, and is one of the best globally. It was awarded Sunday Times Parent Power Independent Secondary School of the Year for Academic Performance in Wales 2025.
Extracurricular groups range from cooking to K-pop and the successful Nasa club, which regularly participates in the UK Space Design Competition.
In 2022 CSFC opened a second campus in Cambridge, where the first cohort of students took their A-levels in summer 2024.
The college was named Independent School of the Year for international student experience at the 2024 Independent Schools of the Year awards.
