- At Canford School, in Wimborne, Dorset, more than 95 per cent of students move on to top universities in the UK and internationally.
- The school runs many trips and expeditions a year, and all pupils are involved in music, drama and art through house competitions, concerts, exhibitions and productions. In addition, more than 100 teams play competitive fixtures across 17 sports, including rowing, real tennis and golf on the school’s nine-hole course.
- The Combined Cadet Force offers army, navy and marines training and entry to the Royal Marines Sir Steuart Pringle Trophy, Ten Tors challenge and the Rifles Cup. The school is a gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award centre.
- Scholarships are available at 13-plus and sixth form entry, including the co-curricular Assyrian award, which is funded by the sale of a 3,000-year-old frieze that formed part of a wall in the school tuck shop. Means-tested bursaries are worth up to 110 per cent of fees, and the Martin Marriott Foundation, named after a former headmaster, was established to raise funds to support bursary pupils.
