- This girls’ grammar balances a strong academic record with success in the performing arts and sport. In 2025, the school’s netballers competed at regional level.
- BSG has a half-termly newspaper, written and edited by students, in which they are able to express what matters to them.
- Performing arts are a strength and there are numerous choirs, bands — including rock and jazz — strings and percussion groups.
- More than 50 clubs run at lunchtimes and after school, covering crafts, adventure, Stem subjects, knitting, boxing, ethics and learning Mandarin Chinese. Many pupils join the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) and take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.
