- One of the 24 independent schools within the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), Blackheath High School was founded in 1880. Its mission today is “to inspire our students to have confidence in their own academic pursuits, however diverse”.
- Alongside a range of co-curricular clubs, from French film to dissection, the school values the external links that it encourages its pupil body to forge with the local community. Girls of all ages partake in activities from coffee afternoons with senior citizens to cooking meals for the Evelyn Community Store in Deptford.
- Mental health and wellbeing is prioritised and year 7 pupils are supported with the school’s “resilience project”, a programme to “encourage students to empower [our] young people to approach hurdles with a positive frame of mind”.
- Noted alumnae include the fashion designer Mary Quant, the comedian Helen Lederer and the ITV journalist Charlene White.
