- Despite its name, Bedford Modern School is more than 250 years old but remains “resolutely innovative and forward-looking”. The school says that its defining characteristic is “unpretentious excellence” and it aims to create a community where all students can flourish as individuals.
- Senior and sixth-form pupils belong to one of six school houses and compete annually for a trophy in 50 events covering sports, debating, quizzes, poetry and music, drama and dance during the year.
- There are many trips to Europe and a biennial remote expedition to a developing nation. From year 9, pupils have the option to join the Combined Cadet Force.
- Students at the school are guided by the school’s core values: kindness, respect, resilience, confidence, ambition, responsibility and integrity.
