“This is an extremely welcoming and inclusive school. Pupils appreciate the very positive relationships they have built with staff. They are happy and enjoy coming to school. Staff know their pupils very well. This helps to ensure that pupils are kept safe. The school has high expectations for pupils… [including those] with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), who are supported exceptionally well. The curriculum is ambitious for all pupils … [and] designed successfully to build pupils’ knowledge progressively over time. Teachers have strong subject knowledge and present information clearly ... Pastoral support for pupils is extremely strong. The ‘I-matter’ provision uses highly experienced staff to support pupils’ mental health through a broad range of therapeutic programmes. Students in the sixth form support this provision through their roles as mental health ambassadors.”

About the school

Beauchamps High School is a mixed secondary school and sixth form based in the town of Wickford in Essex, welcoming students aged 11-18 through a non-selective admissions policy.
Founded in 1959, the school has a longstanding reputation for serving its community.
As of March 2022 the school has formally been part of a federation with the nearby Wickford Primary School. This collaboration aims to strengthen leadership and governance, enable better transitions from primary to secondary and allow sharing of resources and best practices, potentially benefiting pupils across age ranges.
In 2025, during its first Ofsted inspection in ten years, the school was rated “good”. Inspectors described it as inclusive and welcoming and the pupils friendly, recognising its support for a wide range of learners.
Approximately 70 per cent of the school’s students progress to higher education or training — a figure that places the school comfortably above both the national and local authority averages.
