- Established on land given in 1344 by Isabella of France, the widow of Edward II, Bablake is truly ancient. Today it is part of the Coventry School Foundation alongside King Henry VIII School. In 2020, an announcement was made that Bablake would merge with King Henry VIII School but plans were shelved in 2021 and the schools retained their own names.
- Scholarships are offered for academics, music and art at year 7 entry, and academic, art and sports scholarships for sixth-form entry.
- Means-tested bursaries are available and designed to “assist pupils who demonstrate exceptional academic standards and the potential to benefit from the education and opportunities that we offer”, as the school describes.
- Former pupils include the former editor of The Observer Donald Trelford and the Olympic showjumper Nick Skelton. The school colours are maroon and gold.
