- The annual Curriculum Enrichment Week brings the whole school together to focus on a subject or sport, and includes a year-group trip as a reward for hard work.
- At this Church of England academy in York, founded in 1546, good relationships between students, parents and the school are seen as the key to academic success.
- There is a boxing academy and full range of sports teams, which take part in interhouse clashes, as well as local and regional competitions. During the Curriculum Enrichment Week, each year group has the chance to have a go at a sporting activity they may not yet have tried.
- Eleven Level 3 vocational qualifications — equivalent to A-levels — are offered in subjects including applied law, children’s play, learning and development, travel and tourism, engineering, and forensic and criminal investigation.
- The school’s Unity Fund, established in 2018, runs a breakfast club and responds to need in the school community — from providing a pencil case or new schoolbag, to helping pay for a bike or save on bus fares.
