- Generations of women have been educated to lead and shape their communities since the school was founded in 1910. Many pupils are keen to join the school’s diversity, anti-bullying, sports and culture ambassador teams, which organise events for their peers. To develop their cultural capital, pupils are exposed to new experiences on a wide range of trips in all subject areas.
- More than 30 clubs are available, fostering interests from Latin to manga. At all levels, sporting endeavour is encouraged and artistic flair is nurtured through play-reading and creative writing workshops. At Stem clubs, pupils can discover how to create art through computer coding and learn practical skills in design and construction. Gardening clubs encourage the ecologists of the future.
- Student leadership opportunities are varied: there are head girls in the sixth form, prefects in year 11, a peer mentoring programme, digital leaders, anti-bullying ambassadors, wellbeing ambassadors and a charity committee.
- All pupils are part of a form tutor group and get involved with a programme to engage with the school’s values: unity, vision, co-operation, empowerment, perseverance and selflessness.
- Altrincham Grammar School for Girls was awarded State Secondary School of the Year in the Northwest for Academic Excellence 2025 and Northwest State Secondary School of the Decade 2021
