- The co-ed day and boarding school is more than 750 years old and counts among its alumni the author Ben Macintyre and the Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke.
- An extensive extracurricular programme is built into the timetable and includes 150 activities, ranging from bellringing and badminton, to playwriting and architecture.
- Pupils meet with their tutors daily as part of the pastoral care framework. The school believes there is no individual route to positive wellbeing and so offers different approaches to help pupils find the best strategies for them.
- Boarders’ accommodation has been renovated and extended to create a home from home with study areas, house rooms and kitchenettes, plus single rooms for sixth-formers.
- Some free and subsidised places are offered to local day pupils, and there are scholarships available at the 11-plus, 13-plus and 16-plus entry points.
