About the school

  • The co-ed day and boarding school is more than 750 years old and counts among its alumni the author Ben Macintyre and the Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke.
  • Boarders’ accommodation has been recently renovated and extended to create a home from home with study areas, house rooms and kitchenettes, plus single rooms for sixth-formers.
  • The extensive extracurricular programme is built into the timetable and includes 150 activities, ranging from bellringing to badminton, playwriting to architecture.
  • Pupils meet with their tutors daily as part of the pastoral care framework. The school believes there is no one route to positive wellbeing so offers different approaches to help pupils to find the best strategies for them.
  • Some free and subsidised places are offered to local day pupils, and there are scholarships available at the 11+, 13+, and 16+ entry points.
